Divya Chaudhry moved to the United States from New Delhi, India, in 2011 to pursue her Ph.D. in linguistics at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a specialization in language pedagogy from University of Delhi and a master’s degree in linguistics from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, India. Her research interests include language teacher professional development, second language acquisition and pedagogy, and discourse analysis.
She has worked with diverse students of all ages and various cultures. She taught Hindi at the University of Florida. She also taught English as a second language at the University of Florida’s intensive English program. As an instructor, she integrates her background in education and linguistics with her interest in streettheater and world cultures to provide a complete language experience to her students. Her ultimate goal is to provide the learners the tools to take control of their own learning.
At Rice, Divya is an associate at Will Rice College and the faculty sponsor for Rice’s Bollywood Dance Team- Rice Riyaaz. She was awarded the CLIC Summer curriculum development grant in 2017 and has also been chosen the favorite professor at Will Rice College.
