Kevin D. García Cruz received a Master’s degree in Spanish from the University of California, Irvine where he is also a Ph.D. Candidate. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with an emphasis in linguistics from the University of California, Riverside. Prior to coming to Rice University, he taught Spanish language courses at UC Irvine and Chapman University in Orange, CA. He has been recognized by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Irvine with the Teaching Excellence Award for his commitment to teaching and his dedication to undergraduate foreign language education. He is an avid supporter of lifelong learning and as a Spanish instructor he aims to motivate his students to use the linguistic and cultural tools learned in the classroom to experience the Spanish-speaking world first hand.
