Luziris Pineda Turi earned her Ph.D. in U.S. Latino Literature from the University of Houston with certificates in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the Cornell School of Criticism & Theory. She has taught all levels of Spanish and Gender Studies courses at the Univ. of Houston, UH-Downtown and Lonestar College; her teaching was recognized with the UofH Teaching Excellence Award. She has also worked as an archivist at the Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage project. At Rice she has been awarded the CLIC Summer Technology Grant and chosen as Favorite Professor at Will Rice and Weiss. Along with her literary work, her most recent research interests include Second Language Acquisition and language pedagogy. Due to her interdisciplinary background, her language courses not only draw from linguistic theories but also from her literary and gender studies expertise. She is a Duncan Associate: Somos equipo.
