Eun Hee Kim received her PhD in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she also earned a certificate of Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education (SLATE). Her research focused on possible sources of second language learners’ linguistic misunderstanding and the ways to overcome such difficulties. Her work not only contributes to the field of second language acquisition but also has the potential to inform educators, language teaching professionals and developers of language teaching software about the second language learners’ target language use.
Prior to joining Rice, she taught different tracks and levels of Korean language courses at University of Illinois and her name was included on the list of teachers ranked as excellent by their students every semester she taught. As a language instructor and a researcher, she is interested in the types of linguistic structures that the learners of Korean can have difficulty with in learning and the tools to promote their understanding of Korean.
