Ali Al-Maqtari received his M.A. in Foreign Language Education from the Université de Franche-Comté in Besançon France. Before coming to Rice, Ali Al-Maqtari taught Arabic at Yale summer school, Southern Connecticut State University, Iona College, and at the Rassias Language School in Dartmouth College. He also created the first Arabic program at Brunswick School, an all-boys college preparatory school in Greenwich, Connecticut. His teaching and research interests include language methodology, curriculum design, translation, and organizing immersion programs locally and abroad.
Currently, Ali Al-Maqtari serves as head of the World Language Department and Arabic IB coordinator at the Awty International School.
