• Apply for Rice in France - Application opens November 2nd!

Join us for Rice in France, a six-week study abroad program based in Toulouse, France. While there, students will take two French courses at the 300 level with a Rice faculty member and a local instructor from our partner institution. Students will be immersed in the language and culture through homestay, excursions, community service experiences, and meetings with local language partners in Toulouse. Students will receive Rice credit for both courses, which count toward the Certificate in Language and Intercultural Communication. You are eligible to apply if you have taken FREN 264 (or will be taking it during Spring 2027), have been placed into a 300-level FREN course, or have taken a 300-level FREN course (some exceptions may apply). Students who have already taken 400-level FREN courses are no longer eligible.

The program is open to students of any Rice major. Scholarships are available to offset the program costs. Students who receive need-based aid during the academic year are eligible to receive financial aid for summer coursework. Pell Grant recipients may apply for Pell Grant funds toward summer session costs.

Wagoner Scholarship / Rice in Country Partnership

Students may combine Rice in Country with research through a partnership between CLIC and the Center for Civic Leadership (CCL). Rice in Country participants may extend their stays to conduct research on topics of interest through the CCL's Wagoner Research Pathway Scholarship.
