Resources for Language Learners

Fondren Library

Fondren Library has books and videos on language learning. Visit their website, library.rice.edu, to search the catalog or check with the reference librarian for more information.

Language Consultants

CLIC employs language consultants, Rice students who are native or advanced learners of the languages we teach. Students enrolled in CLIC courses are asked to meet with a language consultant to complete certain assignments during the semester. Students who have studied a language at CLIC but are not currently enrolled in a CLIC course may meet with a language consultant a limited number of times each semester to help them maintain their language ability. Please contact Heather Lazare at htl1@rice.edu to connect with a language consultant.

Language Tables, Tea and Coffee Social Events

CLIC and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Cultures host language tables, tea times, and coffee social events where students can practice speaking. Both native speakers and learners are invited to attend. These events take place during the semester and have been meeting on Zoom. Find the language table calendar at this link.
