CLIC Language Study Award
(for non-Rice in Country programs)
Applications for 2025 will be open from November 25, 2024 - March 1, 2025.
Amount:
Up to $3,000
Eligibility:
- Have taken at least two courses in the target language at CLIC by the time of the program*.
- Preference is given to students with A or B grades in previously taken language courses and an overall GPA of at least 3.00.
- Apply to a study abroad program lasting from six weeks to one year, approved by CLIC.
- These are competitive awards and priority will be given to students pursuing the language certificate.
*Applicants who are interested in pursuing a study abroad program sponsored by The Department of Modern and Classical Literatures and Cultures (MCLC) or Transnational Asian Studies (TAS) are exempt from this requirement. Preference will be given to students who intend to continue their language/culture study with CLIC, MCLC, or TAS upon their return to campus
Not all programs approved by the Study Abroad Office will automatically qualify for this award, as the focus should be on language acquisition. Please talk with the Study Abroad Office advisors and the CLIC advisor, Dr. Hossam Elsherbiny, to identify an appropriate program.
